Hi there,

So, a little bit about me…

I’m currently 33 years old and live with my fiancée and 7 year-old daughter in Brisbane, Australia, after emigrating here in May 2007 from the UK.

For 4-days a week I work as an Information Security Consultant for a consultancy in the city, specialising in ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS compliance.  The rest of the time, when I’m not exploring my new home of South East Queensland, I spend developing my internet business – NetCloud Ltd, with my business partner Michael who is based in England.

Our first website under the Netcloud banner is IPChitChat.co.uk, which sells Voice over IP (VoIP) phones and associated hardware to individuals and small businesses across Europe (and occassionally other parts of the world).  As well as continuously working to improve IPChitChat, we are actively developing new projects.

In my spare time, I love travelling (having picked up the travel bug from my 7.5 years in the Royal Navy), playing backyard cricket, and I’m slowly learning to play the guitar.  My other interests include all things tech, movies, and politics.

DarylHaines.com is a personal blog originally created to let friends and family back in the UK hear about our new adventure down under.  However, this blog also occassionally acts as thereapy for me by giving me a place to have a little rant about whatever is on my mind at the time.
